Do I qualify to be a Chartered member?

To qualify for Chartered membership you will need to be a fully paid CIH Member or Fellow. Applying for Chartered membership requires additional information to be supplied above and beyond that required to become a Member. You must also have a Masters Degree relevant to horticulture or the equivalent level of expertise. To see if you qualify to apply have a look at our membership criteria and supporting documentation.

How do I become a Chartered member?

To apply to become a Chartered member you must complete an application form, as well as a professional information form, which requires you to input your employment history and core competencies. You will then be invited to an interview with two of our Chartered officers who will be reviewing your application. To maintain your Chartered membership status, you are also required to complete and submit 30 hours of Continual Professional Development (CPD) each year.

Download the required documentation below and either email or post them back to us. We aim to process applications within 4 weeks of receiving the completed paperwork and £115 one off validation fee, however due to the interview process in some instances this may be longer. Once the application process is complete, you will be asked to pay a percentage of the annual £110 Chartered membership fee which will bring your payments inline.
